STD and AIDS are not only the disasters that you can encounter in the bedroom. Today you can also have sexual injuries to fight. I talking about lower back pain that sex may cause.
Why do back pains or lower back pains occur during sex?
According to the article Sexual Injuries that I have read in Woman Today magazine dated
The lumbar region is in a stable position when the body is perfectly straight in the vertical or horizontal position. During intercourse, stresses that could cause lower back injuries include flexion (bending at the waist) and torsion (twisting at the waist)
One doctor notes that although there is already some risk of lower back pain in the missionary position, and the risk increases with the “doggy-style” position.
The causes of lower back pain of coital origin include a torn muscle or a herniated disk, wherein a strong force pushes the vertebral disk into the area where the spinal nerves are located. Sciatica can also occur when a vertebral disk applies pressure on the sciatic nerve. When this happens, pain occurs not only in the lower back but also in the legs.
Thankfully, 90% of lower back injuries are cured with rest and exercise within 6-8 weeks. Recent studies have shown that it is best for a patient to have complete bed rest – alone – during the first 2 or 3 days of rehab. Hello! I’m a chiropractor in Indiana, and I just wanted to say that this post is so true – I can’t tell you the number of people who come in with back problems related to sexual positions.
It seems to me that this is mostly in women, and you hit the nail right on the head – it’s the positions of flexion and rotation that are the problem.
I usually recommend that, if this is a problem for one of the partners, that the woman be on top during intercourse.
This allows both partners to keep their spine straight and avoid the positions that cause the back pain.
