1. Walk a little, live a little - If you are not very active now, your first step to getting fitter is to simply walk more. Walking is the most natural exercise of all. Brisk walking is great for stamina.
2. Running and jogging – An easy pace of running and jogging is fun, free and a quick way of getting fit. It is good for building up energy and endurance.
3. Swimming – Excellent for strength, stamina and agility especially if you use various stroke. Swimming is good if you are overweight or have any backache or stiffness, because the water supports your body.
4. Golf - A round of golf is a walk of four or five miles in the open air, often up and down hills and carrying your clubs or pulling your trolley can be good for leg strength and stamina.
5. Tennis – The exercise value of tennis increases as your game improves. The bending, stretching, leaping, and running are good for endurance, for agility and leg strength. Tennis is one of the best exercises out there and above all is a fun sport to play. 6. Squash – You have to be fit to play squash, so do not play squash to get fit – it can be hard and fast game. If you are middle-aged think very carefully before taking up squash and if you do, start playing takes it very gently in the beginning.
7. Badminton – Fun even if you are a beginner. Involves lots of bending, stretching and leaping for high shuttles, so it is good for flexibility and leg power.
8. Exercise classes - are a very important form of fitness. You will get an all-around workout, which is good for stamina, strength and flexibility. Some exercises will build up strength in your legs, arms, stomach and back. Aerobic exercises based on jogging or jumping are great for stamina.
9. Lift weights to slim down – Most fitness gurus advocate aerobic training like running, cycling or fast walking to lose weight, but scientists are learning that pumping iron could be more effective.
10. Team games – Football, basketball, netball, to name a few are a good form of exercises. They are great ways of relieving stress and tension.
