Keeping Baby Safe

Author: MARU  //  Category: General

This is for new parents out there who are considering buying baby car seats or baby carriers.

As parents, bear in mind that baby car seats/baby carriers are supposed to give you the peace of mind that you are keeping your infant as safe as possible while riding in an automobile. Thus, here are some safety do’s and don’ts:

  • Never carry a child on your lap in the front or rear of a car. It is highly dangerous. Always insist that your child is secured in a suitable car seat, even on the shortest drive.
  • Fit your child’s car seat carefully, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Incorrect installation of car seats offers little or no protection.
  • Check your child’s weight regularly and make sure that you are using the appropriate seat. Before each travel, check installation.
  • Check before each drive that all straps are tight, properly adjusted and secured on your child’s hips, to ensure maximum protection. You should be able to put your fingers between the strap and your child’s chest.
  • Your baby will need the extra support and protection of a head support cushion in the first few months.
  • Check the car seat regularly for wear and tear.
