Rugs

Original Persian rugs are somewhat expensive. (I even have an impression before that only very rich people can own such items.) I think contemporary rugs are much cheaper. Anyhow, if you own rugs in your home, naturally you take extra care of them so that they will last for many years and perhaps to reach generations.

Here are simple tips and ideas on how to take care, protect and maintain your fine rugs:

  • 1. Vacuum your rug regularly and do not wait until it gets dirty and soiled.
  • 2. Rotate your rug or turn it around frequently for even and balanced wear depending on the foot traffic.
  • 3. Avoid your rug to direct exposure to sunlight so that colors will not fade easily.
  • 4. When something is spilled, act quick before it sets in the rug
  • 5. In storing rugs, do not store it in a humid, damp, hot, or poorly ventilated room. This causes mildew, which has a stale odor, discolors fabrics, and weakens them.

Go online and do some research first on where to buy best  if you plan to put more area rugs in your home as finishing touches. Have an estimate of prices, qualities, details of a rug and look only for a reputable dealer.

I’ve met sooo many people who think area rugs are for the wealthy. Lots of people think that you have to be, like you said “rich” to buy a rug. A big reason for that I believe is because they think Persian Rug when they hear area rug. Area rugs can be very affordable and I think a lot of people are missing out. Rugs can bring any room to life. When shopping for just area rugs you can find VERY nice things for borderline “cheap” prices.
