My afternoon merienda – CUCHINTA with grated cheese.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp. chinese white lihia
  • grated coconut or cheese
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • food coloring (optional)

Method:

Add water to flour gradually while beating. Then mix in the remaining ingredients, plus a dash of food coloring. Continue beating until well blended. Pour on  molders. Cover with cheese cloth and steam for 30 minutes or until done. Serve with fresh grated coconut or cheese.

Makes 14 pieces.

Note: Boil water in steamer before placing molds.

  1. Shyet! Naalala ko Nanay ko! Magaling din kasi siyang gumawa ng mga kakanin tulad ng cuchinta. Pati ‘yung mga sapin-sapin na mukhang mahirap gawin.

    Ay gusto ko matututo talaga kung paano gumawa ng sapin-sapin. Gusto ko nga ibahin ang mga kulay na nilalagay dun. Parang type ko yung mga neon colors. LOl!

    Aba, ngayon ko lang nakita ang kumbinasyon na to ah. Sa Cavite nilalagyan namin ng yema ang kutsinta.

    awww! mas yan ang naiiba! yema sa cuchinta? nga pala mas masarap kung grated cheese ang nilalagay na toppings kasi hindi nakakaumay.
