Teenage Woe

teenage acneI am a proud parent of a teenage girl. And just like any normal teens, my 13-year-old Keziah have worries too, like having occasional teen acne breakout on her face. As a mom, I always try to explain to her that she is not alone, that acne strikes all teenagers equally regardless of sex, race or ethnicity. I explained further that acne generally begins between the ages of 10 and 13 and that she need not worry because in most cases, acne resolve or disappear by the time the person is in his or her 20’s.

Just like any common girl, my Keziah cannot help but get upset when she sees the acne starts to appear especially on her forehead. I am aware that teens are more likely to seek the best acne treatment in an attempt to speed clearing that is why I always make an effort for her to understand that all acne medications, including over-the-counter remedies, must be used as directed only. So far, she is doing well, using a topical acne medication now.
