If we notice of the increasing statistics of minors admitted for alcohol rehab, it is because peer pressure is one of the biggest hurdles teens face. The pressure can cause normally levelheaded teens to make rash and often wrong decisions.
We parents should train our kids even at the very young age to select their friends, for one reason that one day, we don’t want to see our child being submitted for alcohol treatment in a private alcohol rehab. I, myself reminds my teenagers (son Kevin and daughter Keziah) that not everyone is a good friend. Of course, they have to be a friend to everybody, but they have to own close circle of friends for they can affect their behavior.
I was once a teenager and I know that teenagers value friendship so much that they feel pressured to look good, to date, to attend parties, to smoke or to drink. To go along with what the gang wants is not easy hence; it is parent’s duty to teach children to stand up for what is right.

I agree. Teenagers are in a stage when they are confused and easily victims of peer pressure. It’s the parents’ role to guide them and keep reminding them of always making the right choices.

Of course it’s the parents job to guide them, but the pressure that a teenager is under these days is ridiculous. A parent could do everything right and their child may still screw up. I think thats the scary thing, that the world’s environment has changed so much that its hard to monitor everything. Just hope you’ve taught them well and they can make good decisions!
