Tama Na Ang Emote

Get Well Soon, Dear!

So depressing to think that until this date, Kups is confined in that place called hospital. Being sick is absolutely not fun and I understand that Kups is compelled by his medical situation to stay longer in the hospital. I have no update yet about his latest heart condition.

I know nobody wants to be hospitalized; I myself cringe every time I am inside that place. God forbid, I do not want to get sick especially that I do not even have cheap health insurance.

First Gift

Bialetti Pots and Pans

I used to have cheap set of cookware with not-so-good industrial plastic knobs that easily weaken the grip.

So grateful that finally, I was able to replace it with high-quality non-stick coated pots and pans.

I acquired (courtesy of Kups) my Italian-made cookware set on sale when I was in Milan, ITALY last November 2009.

My pots and pans – considered Kups first gift to me.

It’s Back!

After six long months of thorough overhauling and tuning up, my brother’s car is finally back in good shape and now running again.

I have blogged about it last year, where Evan’s gray Honda Jazz is one of the thousands of unfortunate vehicles that submerged and damaged due to typhoon Ondoy.

The amount of money that my brother shelled out from his savings just for the car repair is quite serious. Tsk!

After Ondoy, it was good business for all shops that sells chrome accessories and other auto parts because I learned that they made a lot of money even without having to jack up their prices.

Well, for car owners with comprehensive insurance policies that cover acts of God (like flood damage) and other natural disasters, they‘re – lucky!

Healthy Recipes, Healthy Family

In this fast food years of pizza delivery and speedy drive-thru meals, it seem so easy for us not bother anymore with a sit-down “real” dinner. We seem to sacrifice proper nutrition for convenience.

People, we must not forget that our bodies’ immune systems will start to weaken if we keep on living on junk-food diets. Contrary to what most of the advertisers tell us, we all need to eat balanced diets. Of course,  who says super-sized fries are healthy vegetables?

Mothers, whether you work away from home or a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom), homemaking in general is largely yours. I am  as well a homemaker (minus a husband) for 19 years and I learned to accept that it is my responsibility of making a house a home (and that includes cooking of course).

I know that maybe this is easier said than done. However, giving our family a healthy lifestyle change can start by simply doing this: Make sure the grocery list includes healthful purchases. Refrain putting in the list high fat, high-sodium and high-sugar processed foods. Instead, stock the refrigerator, the freezer and the pantry with quick-cooking meats and a variety of vegetables. Think thin: pounded chicken breasts or fish fillets with sliced vegetables cook quickly in a skillet.
