Modus Operandi Ng Mga Kawatan

Intersection snatchers …….. in jeepney’s, snatchers almost always do their thing, just as the vehicle starts to move near an intersection (hotspots are Araneta Ave, Banawe, etc). I’ve seen this many times before …. the most common thing I’ve noticed, the snatchers eyes are always in scanning mode ….. be on the alert near intersections & be on the lookout for shifty eyes, as also mentioned in the previous posts.

Laglag barya & ipit-ipit modus operandi ….. classic m.o. ….. be alert & hold on to your things tight, when in public places (especially known hotspots e.g. Cubao, Quiapo, etc). IMO placing your wallet in your front pocket is effective. No bulge in you back-pocket might eliminate you as a target.

Laglag-cellphone-shakedown (glasses, parker pens, PSP, etc) ….. my friend was walking in the Araneta, Cubao area when he was bumped hard by a man – who afterwards claimed that his cellphone (relatively new model) fell to the ground & got damaged because of the hard bump. Immediately, two other men (clearly accomplices of the jerk) joined in harassing my friend & demanding X,XXX amount of money. My friend being wise to the shakedown, grabbed the cellphone of the man & threw it as far away as possible …. luckily, the scoundrels surprised from what my friend did, went after the phone ….. my friend ran to the nearest establishment & reported the incident to the guard.

While waiting for the train, a cute girl 3-4 ft away from me is making eye contact and looking at my crotch area.
After this experience, everytime a pretty girl makes eye contact, my reflex reaction is to hold and feel my cell and wallet. Instinctively,Checking and Making sure it is still there.

Sad.

A giveaway to these kind of modus is in the head of the operators. As shown in the video, the head and eyes are always shifting. Those are the signs and usually they make eye contacts to their accomplices. As a precaution, always put your belongings on a corner, under the table, or in front of you. Always on the lookout of persons with shifty head and eyes. Usually when they sense that you are aware who they are,you are safe.
Pickpockets usually look at the back of the ear of their intended victims. When the back of the ear turns red, that is an indication that you are aware of what they are doing. If somebody bumps you, the natural tendency is to resist movement. Their diskarte is based on that resistance. Best move is to go with the flow, if someone bumps you, you move with it, that way, masira diskarte nila.
If you sense you are the target, move away or turn around. Change your position. Make them aware you are aware.
Always be on the look out of those shifty eyes. Those people who are not the usual customers. Be wary of persons who line up to order but facing the opposite. Persons who enter fast food establishment without ordering. Some may be harmless but it pays to be vigilant.
I am not a pickpocket. I learned from a friend who has a friend into that trade in Cebu.

My experience naman happened inside a jeepney, One early morning during a ride from Welcome Rotonda to Cubao, may umupo sa tabi ko na lalaki with a gym bag then nilagay niya yung bag niya sa lap niya, good thing for me na lagi kong kinakapa yung cellphone at wallet ko sa front pocket ng pants ko (i dont place my wallet and celfone sa back pocket or sa belt clip for safety) but in this instance dahil puno yung jeep and siksikan, yung katabi ko nakadikit na talaga sa akin pati yung malaking gymbag niya kaya kahit na kinakapa ko yung celphone ko na me bumabangga akala ko lang yung bag niya yung tumatama sa front pocket ko, and good thing ulit pag nararamdaman ko me bumabangga sa pocket ko kinakapa ko ung phone and wallet ko.
Then nung bababa na ko ng jeep inunahan ako ng katabi kong bumaba na nagmamadali at nung nakababa na siya tumingin siya sa akin then dun lang ako naghinala na me ginawang di maganda yun kups na yun so when i look at my pants front pocket me laslas na ng blade yung pants ko, pero buti na lang wala siya nakuha dahil nga kinakapa ko yung phone and wallet ko pag bumabangga yung bag niya which turned out to be na cover lang yung bag niya sa lap niya habang nilalaslas niya front pocket ko sa pants…sayang nga yung pants ko me laslas pero buti na lang luma na yun hehe…so ngayon aware na ko dun sa mga me dalang malaking bag na nilalagay sa lap baka me ginagawa ng di maganda yun sa ilalim

Actually my friend is also a victim, you know how girls use extra seats to put their bags di ba.they placed 4bags on a chair, and when they finished eating wala na yung nasa ilalim na bag, then the customers at the next table told them that a guy seating beside them took it while they were ordering palang. Akala daw kasama nila kasi kasabay pumasok. Ingat na lang talaga and always be alert.

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE–NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS
Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating… You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off.
They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.
