Makita Kang Muli

Nway, this is my favorite shot of all.

IMG_5095

Haha!

Homemade Yellow Cake Mix

Gusto ko ‘to!

Higit sa lahat, mas moneysaver ‘to.

Pwedeng gawin ang mixing in advance.

Latest Loot

Usong-uso ang looting sa London 2 weeks ago. Eh humabol ang Mamaru at nakiuso din.

Here’s my latest loot galing sa isang Korean store.

1. TILAPIA CURRY WITH STRING BEANS

tilapia curry with string beans

  • 1/2 kilo Tilapia, sliced
  • 1 small bundle string beans, cut into 2” length
  • 1/2 head garlic chopped
  • 1 thumb size ginger, cut into thin strips
  • 1 small size onion, chopped
  • 1 pieces red/green chili pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp. fish sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp. curry powder
  • salt and pepper
  • cooking oil

In a pan using half quantity of garlic, ginger and onion sauté the fish for about 1 to 2 minutes, remove from pan keep aside. Using the same pan add more oil and stir cook the remaining ginger, garlic and onion until fragrant. Add in half quantity of the coconut milk, fish sauce and curry powder bring to a boil and simmer. Add in the remaining coconut milk, string beans and chili pepper. Add in the fish, season with salt and pepper to taste.

2. PORK GINATAAN

Ano ini? Ginataan tapos orangey ang kulay? Hehe!

pork ginataan

In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons oil then saute 3 cloves crushed garlic and 1 chopped onion. Add 1/2 kilo diced pork. Cook until browned. Add 1/4 cup bagoong alamang gisado . Pour 1 cup coconut cream. Simmer until pork is tender. Add 1/2 cup sliced siling pansigang. Cook until the sauce has thickened. Adjust seasoning, if needed.

3. HONEY ROLLS

honey rolls

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup barely warm water
  • 1/4 cup honey + 1 tablespoon
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra if necessary
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle the yeast over the warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.

Add the honey, salt and egg. Stir until blended. Add 3 cups of flour and mix until the dough comes together. It will be sticky! On a lightly floured surface knead the dough until soft and elastic (about 8 minutes), adding more flour to keep the dough from sticking if necessary. Do not add too much flour! The dough will become more workable the longer you knead. Or, if you have a standing mixer, knead the dough with the dough attachment for 5-7 minutes, or until elastic.

Transfer the kneaded dough to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, about 2 hours.

Punch dough down, divide into 12 equal portions, and shape each portion into a round ball. Place in a pan (or on baking sheets) coated lightly with cooking spray. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and 1 tablespoon honey. Brush over the rolls. Bake for 10-13 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.

DIY Project: Window Treatment & Oven Mitt

Not only one but two!

Heavy Bed

I love the 1-year old bedroom bed that I have now (courtesy of Kups). However, it is too heavy, feels like it is as heavy of a sturdy high-quality hickory bed. It really frustrates me that I cannot just move it easily when I get bored and need new arrangement of furniture.

By the way, when rearranging, I usually don’t buy anything new for the room. I just move and change the position of the furniture and decorating items to allow me to create a new look of the room. I’m fond of reshuffling my bedroom, it simply gives me a whole new mood.

Men Of Noble Profession

firefighters Whenever I hear fire news on TV, initially the report would the focus on the victims, the casualties, the range of damaged property and what caused the fire. Very seldom that reports will mention appreciation or give honor to firefighters who risk their lives just to put off the blaze. Well, I know it’s their task to fight fires, to prevent destruction of life and property.

Firefighters, they drag those heavy industrial rubber hose, climb high ladders and carry people from buildings. Carrying those heavy things, the chance of being burned, crushed or killed are only a few of the risks that firefighters face at each call they respond to. The task of a firefighter is not an easy job indeed. I hope more honor, recognition and compensation will be given to these men of a noble profession, like the firefighters.
