On Acne Prevention

facial care Here I go again talking about acne. A friend of mine asked me what is the best advice I can give for her teenage daughter to prevent acne or what best acne treatments to recommend if skin starts to look bad because of pimples. Told her, for prevention, always wash the face twice every day with warm water and mild soap. Do not scrubs with harsh commercial exfoliates and soaps for they may dry out the skin. Importantly, do not ever try any medication without a prescription of a dermatologist.

As A Mom

I have a young daughter that is now experiencing too many changes both bodily and emotionally.

As a mom, I play a key role in helping her understand the transformations in her body and that includes the hormonal imbalances that may give her skin problems like acne and other beauty hassles. As a mom, I must not forget that my role is not limited to help her seek the best acne treatment, but help her develop a strong self-image as well.

Teenage years are tough. I know it because I was once a teenager too.

teenage acneI am a proud parent of a teenage girl. And just like any normal teens, my 13-year-old Keziah have worries too, like having occasional teen acne breakout on her face. As a mom, I always try to explain to her that she is not alone, that acne strikes all teenagers equally regardless of sex, race or ethnicity. Small Bumps

Lately I can see small bumps that come out on my daughter’s face which I suspect are – acne. Well, normally teens get acne because of the hormonal changes that come with puberty. As a mom I  advised her to wash her face always when she gets home from school and I also bought her an over the counter pimple cream to help prevent acne and to clear it up.

Also, I warn her not to touch her pimple, squeeze it, or pick at it because picking of pimples may cause inflammation and may leave ugly scars on her face.

Ugly Spots

While many says that there is nothing you can do to treat your acne for it will just disappear on its own, that is not true!  Your acne may eventually go away on its own but it can leave permanent ugly scars or blemishes on your skin. Well, that could have been prevented, if you had treated your acne immediately. There are many treatment options available now online, just talk to your doctor about which best acne treatment is right for you.
