Kakanin: Cuchinta



My afternoon merienda – CUCHINTA with grated cheese.



  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp. chinese white lihia
  • grated coconut or cheese
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • food coloring (optional)


Add water to flour gradually while beating. Then mix in the remaining ingredients, plus a dash of food coloring. Continue beating until well blended. Pour on  molders. Cover with cheese cloth and steam for 30 minutes or until done. Serve with fresh grated coconut or cheese.

Makes 14 pieces.

Note: Boil water in steamer before placing molds.
