Synopsis:
Abel is a nine–year–old boy and the only male patient in a psychiatric ward for women in provincial Aguascalientes, Mexico for the past two years. He often experiences violent episodes and refuses to speak, though his doctors are unable to diagnose or treat his apparent mental illness. Due to hospital rules, Abel must be transferred to a children‘s hospital in Mexico City for permanent residency. A week before he is set to depart, his mother Cecilia convinces the hospital director, Doctor Monarrez, to let Abel stay with her for a week. If Abel behaves and Cecilia can handle his care during this time, he will be allowed to stay with his family. If not, he must go to the hospital in distant Mexico City.

Abel arrives home to be greeted by his siblings, Selene, 16, and Paul, 5. Abel is clearly uncomfortable in his own home, and his brother and sister are equally wary of his presence, resulting in highly charged tension within the household. One morning, out of the blue, Abel begins to speak. His mother is delighted and considers it a sign of improvement. However, rather than acting like a boy his own age, Abel starts to act like the man of the house – a husband to his mother and a father to his siblings. Despite their confusion and irritation, Abel‘s family tries their best to accept his actions and keep him happy. Selene makes peace with her brother‘s assumed role by inviting him to participate in the Fathers‘ Day celebration at Paul‘s school. Abel and Paul grow closer during their daily homework sessions, and the two boys often play together. Things start looking up for the small family, as everyone begins to adjust to their new lifestyle.

Then, one morning, Abel wakes up to find a strange man sitting at the table. Anselmo, the children‘s real father, has returned from working in the United States. Abel does not seem to recognize him and becomes alarmed by the presence of a stranger in his house. Cecilia lies and tells Abel that Anselmo is her cousin. Abel is relieved by her explanation and begins to speak to his father as a peer. Anselmo, however, is much more disturbed by Abel‘s behaviour. He decides to take matters into his own hands and drags Abel to the bathroom, where he forces his son to look in the mirror and recognize himself as a child. Abel panics as his confusion mounts and reality intrudes. Cecilia rushes into the bathroom, just in time to administer his medication. Completely sick with worry, she kicks Anselmo out of the house. Early the next morning, Abel takes Paul out of the house without telling Cecilia. Later that morning, Cecilia realizes her children are missing. Frantically, she, Anselmo, Doctor Monarrez, Selene, and Selene‘s boyfriend head out to search for Abel and Paul.

Meanwhile, the boys arrive at the community pool. Once inside, Abel is determined to teach Paul how to swim. Paul follows his brother into the water despite his fears. As soon as they reach deeper water, both boys struggle to stay afloat.

In the car, Selene remembers Abel‘s promise to Paul, and his mother reveals that Abel does not know how to swim either. When they arrive at the pool, they find both boys face down in the water. After several agonizing minutes, Paul and Abel are resuscitated. Cecilia, having come very close to losing both her sons, concedes that she must let Abel travel to Mexico City for treatment.

Napanood ko na yung mga nai-rekomend sa akin ni Moo na Road to Perdition, Shawshank Redemption, Men of Honor and etc.

Bukod sa mga naibigay nya sa akin na DVDs, lahat ng mga nairekomend nya ay pawang magaganda din. Lately nga yung Patch Adams ang pinadownload nya sa akin na halos halos 1/3 yata na parte ng movie na yun at pinaiyak ako ng todo. 

Bago umalis si Moo papuntang HK para magliwaliw at magpakasasa, napag usapan namin ulit ang tungkol sa mga movies. Nabanggit kong Pretty Woman ang all-time peborit ko talaga. Naha-high ang pakiramdam ko tuwing napapanood ko yun. Hindi ko na rin mabilang kung ilang beses ko yun paulit ulit na pinanood.

Hindi naman kasi imposibleng magka totoo ang istorya ng Pretty Woman. Nagkataon na pokpok ang ginamit na karakter ng bida sa movie, pero kahit labandera, tindera, single mom, biyuda, GRO, pangit, mataba, o bulag ay posibleng makatuluyan ang isang mayaman, pogi na kagaya ni Richard Gere na naging “knight in shining armor/prince charming” ni Julia Roberts sa movie di ba? Maliit nga siguro ang tsansa na magkatotoo, but still posible pa rin!!

Speaking of pokpoks, minsan may naka-chat akong blogger na naging friend ko rin at bilib ako sa mga pananaw nya sa mga bagay-bagay sa buhay lalo na pagdating sa relasyon. Itatago na lang natin sya sa pangalan na FriendKo. Baduy noh?

Nabanggit nya minsan ang tungkol sa pokpok:

Halos kapareho din yan sa mga single moms na gaya ko. Kumbaga, dumaan kami sa circus ng buhay. Nagpatumbling-tumbling kami sa mga pagsubok sa buhay. Nagkasugat-sugat, napaso, nasaktan, nadapa, at halos nadala na nga pero pilit pa rin na tumatayo. At siempre, kahit ano ang nangyari..andun yung UMAASA pa rin kami na someday… someone would standby for us.

Gaya nga ng sigaw na pabakla ni Bugoy noong finals ng PDA… “Mangarap tayo! Lahat tayo pwedeng mangarap! Kahit simpleng tao pwedeng mangarap!” Tama ba ako sa quotes ko? Pagkatapos nun, sabay birit naman ng grand winner na si Laarni na halos kita na ang tonsil ng . . . “Manalig kaaaa! Manalig kaaaaa!”  

Aktwali, hindi naman din kelangan maging mayaman, o gwapo muna ang isang lalaki para pangarapin na mahalin. Ang importante ay yung marunong rumespeto ang lalaki sa pagkatao mo, tanggap kung ano ka at yung ipaglalaban ka. (etong tatlo lang ang importante sa akin kung ako ang tatanungin. kahit hindi na mayaman dahil ako na ang bubuhay sa kanya basta mahalin lang nya ako. Joke! Joke! Bolante!)

Alam ko na slimmer ang chance namin na  makatagpo ng isang ala-Richard Gere na totohanin kaming mga single unwed moms. Yung irerespeto pagkatao namin at ipaglalaban sa mga kokontra. Pero once naman na may dumating na ganung lalaki sa amin, asahan mong SUKDULAN ang ibabalik o isusukli na pagmamahal at pag aalaga namin. At bakit sigurado ako? Eh kasi sinabi ko! Hehe!

Di nga, eh kasi siempre kasama na dun ang “pasasalamat” factor dahil sa kunyaring “iahon mo ko sa lusak” na drama ng mga GRO kaya ganun din, makakaasa ka rin talaga ng astig na pagmamahal at full loyalty galing sa amin na mga single moms.

Tsk! Deep-deepan na naman ang mood ng lola.

Christmas / Holiday Shopping — 2
We seem to tie up a lot of emotion in the Holidays, and maybe our shopping is a release and / or an amplification of that emotion.

Kopya ng Transformer DVD lang ang inaasahan kong matatanggap na laman ng Air21 envelope kahapon galing sa ever funny guy na si Defpotec Jones aka Swami. O’ di ba, ang taray ng apelyido, J-O-N-E-S. Imported!! Laging puno ng aliw at sorpresa ang taong ‘to. At palagay ko hindi yata ako magsasawa na isama si Moo sa mga blog entries ko lagi.

Naka-box ang cd na natanggap ko kahapon. Sus mariano ka indo! May ibang laman pa pala ang maliit na kahon ng kung anik-anik pa. Pucha! pinagpawisan ako sa katatawa habang binusisi ko isa-isa ang laman. Nakaka-sorpresa kasi!

• Transformer DVD copy - eto ni-rekwest ko talaga kasi never pa napanood ng lola nyo ang movie na ‘to na kaganda-ganda pala.

• Nokia Cellphone Batteries – gulat ako dito. nagtanong lang naman ako kung ano ang posibleng sira ng selpon ko kasi biglang nauubos agad ang cp battery ko. Kaya pala hindi na sinagot ang mga tanong ko, inambunan na lang ako ng mga baterya. Ayos a! Hehehe narindi yata sa mga talak ko. Para siguro matahimik na ako – eto, dala-dalawang baterya pa. Pwede ko na ngayon gamitin ng gamitin ang vibrator ng selpon ko ng matagalan. Yey!

• Beijing Olympic Bar Pin – hmmn… sa lugar na ‘to yata nanggaling mga ninuno ni Moo. Lols. Isip-isip ko baka next year eh manlibre kina Moo ng trip to Beijing Olympic ang bossing nila na si Bill Gates kaya una ng binigay sa akin ‘tong pin para souvenir siguro. Wahihi!

• (Pine)Apple iPhone – muntik na ako himatayin dito. Ngayon ako naniniwala na “wish do come true”. At lust, nagkaroon din ako ng iPhone. Ambelibabol talaga di ba? Na-shak ako! Whew! Iba na talaga ang bagong increase ng sweldo ano?
  

• Minimoo Stuffed Toy – Hahaha! Itsurang-cow kaya siguro naalala ako. Nadikwat yata ‘to ni Moo sa mga nakasabit sa 168 Mall. Hahaha sino hindi matutuwa dito eh pag pinisil mo ang toy… pati salita eh parang intsik! ay rab u! ay rab u! ay rab u! Ampft!

Minimoo

Maliliit na bagay siguro kung maituturing ‘to. Pero ang joy na naidulot neto sa akin – priceless! Lalo’t isa akong sentimentalist. Oo, yung taong taga-mental. Lols.

Moo, alam ko na super-bz ka lagi sa work mo pero nakukuha mo pang isingit at ipadala sa Air21 ang ka-kengkoyan mo.

Maraming salamat ulit! Super-enjoy kami mag-nanay nanood ng Transformer. Kahit si Kevin eh umulit manood. Mabuhay ka, kaibigan. Halabyu ulit! Mwaah!

Tipping — Out of Control?

UTOL ko: “Gusto mo manood ng The Bourne Ultimatum? May premier showing mamaya sa Rockwell, libre ako kasi sponsored ng kliyente namin, gusto mo?”

MARU: “Oo ba! Eh anong oras?”

UTOL ko: “Dapat 7pm andun ka na. Kaso di kita masusundo kasi busy ako today. Kung gusto mo, mag commute ka na lang papunta dun.”

MARU: “Nyeee! Papano yan eh pangit ng weather, mukhang babagyo. Baka naman mamaya eh ma-stranded ako. Tsaka once pa lang ako nakapunta ng Rockwell eh. Baka maligaw ako kakahiya naman kung mananawagan pa ko dun sa ‘yo.”

UTOL ko: “Eh ikaw, kung gusto mo lang naman. Tawagan mo ko lunchtime kung tutuloy ka para maisama kita dun sa reservation list.”

MARU: “Hmp! Di na siguro. Sige…di bale na lang” (arteng pa-presyo. nagpapapilit)

UTOL ko: “Oo nga, sige wag na lang. Tsaka ano lang ba naman ang ise-serve nilang food dun sa mga viewers… hotdogs… popcorns…softdrinks.”

Kuuuu! Gusto ko kutusan ‘tong kapatid ko at guluhin ang buhok nyang kalalagay lang ng gel. “Pinaglaway mo lang akoooooooo!”. Lech!

Hindi ako naglalaway dun sa kung ano ang lafang dahil pwede naman ako magbaon ng sarili kong kanin at ulam dun sa sinehan! Hahaha!

Naglalaway lang talaga ako na mapanood AGAD si Matt Damon aka Jason Bourne. Kainis talaga. Maikukumpara ang pakiramdam ko dun sa mananalo na sana ako sa huweteng kaso biglang dumaplis yung isang numero kaya ayun, OLATS pa rin ako.

Hirap rin talaga maging probinsyana at pag hindi kabisado ang kalibliban ng Metro Manila. Pero biro ko lang yung baka maligaw ako dun sa Rockwell. Nag drama lang ako kasi baka naman pwedeng sunduin nya na lang ako dito sa bahay. Nakakatamad din kasi talaga mag commute lalo na pag maulan. Kaso di umepek gimik ko kay brader. Hayysss…
