One of the criteria that I look for a provider in webhosting is the reliability and speed of access. The uptime is important to me aside that the webhost must have security features because I know for sure that if my blog is frequently down, it follows that I will lose a lot of guests in my blog.
See, if someone finds my blog in the search engine and tries to access but only finds out that it is down, naturally he will simply go down the list to look for another site. Anyway, for those who are thinking of self-hosting their blog, better if they understand first the what, where, and why of web hosting. Much better to read first the hosting reviews.
